Recommended Goals

Recommended goals are goals developed by a Human Resources administrator or Manager that can be recommended to an employee or group of employees to adopt.

Recommended goals are defined in the Recommended Goals page. During configuration, recommended goals can be:

  • Aligned with Corporate Goals
  • Identified as a Stretch Goal
  • Assigned a Goal Weight

Once defined, these goals are then recommended for selected employees, all employees, or groups of employees by selecting qualifiers. Employees can adopt a goal as their own on the Goals page. An adopted goal becomes part of the employee's goal plan and is later incorporated into their review.

Recommended Goals Management

Manage recommended goals in the Recommended Goals page. Specific goal information is available in this page, including title, description, goal category, goal type, created by, created date, start date, due date, goal weight, and status.

The Recommended Goals page is used by human resource administrators and managers to:

  • Add Recommended Goals
  • Change Recommended Goals
  • View Additional Goal Recommendations

    Navigation: Menu > My Team or Administration > Talent Management > Recommended Goals

    The Recommended Goals page is used by employees to:

  • View Recommended Goals
  • Copy and Adopt a Recommended Goal

Navigation: Myself > Career and Education > Goals > at Things I can do, select View Recommended Goals

Add or Change Recommended Goals

Add or change recommended goals in the Recommended Goals page.

  1. From the Recommended Goals page, complete one of the following:
    • To add a new recommended goal, select Add.
    • To change a recommended goal, select a recommended goal from the list.

  2. At the Description field, enter a description for the goal. The goal description length can be up to 5,000 characters.
  3. At the Category drop-down list, select a goal category. The goal category is associated with the specified goal.
  4. At the Weight field, enter the percentage goal weight, if applicable.
  5. At the Status section, select whether the goal is Active or Inactive, which indicates if the goal is available for selection or not.
  6. At the Goal Type drop-down list, select a goal type. The goal type is associated with the specified goal.
    Note

    Four goal types are provided in Performance Reviews: Customer, Financial, Internal Business Processes, and Learning and Growth. You can create your own goal types to display in the Goal Type drop-down list in the Goal Types page (Menu > Business Rules > Goal Types). Goal types must be configured prior to adding/changing goals.

  7. At the Corporate Goal Alignment drop-down list, select a goal alignment, if the goal is aligned with a corporate goal.
  8. At the Organizational Impact drop-down list, select an organizational impact for the goal.
  9. Select This is a Stretch Goal, if applicable.
  10. At the Goal Dates section, enter the Start and Due dates of the goal.
    Note
    • Performance Reviews does not enforce Start and Due dates. Dates are for customer reference and tracking purposes only.
    • Goal Start and Due dates can be set as required fields in the Change Talent Management Settings page (Menu > System Configuration > Talent Management > Edit).
    • Goal Start and Due dates can be edited while a review is in progress.
  11. At the Recommended Options section, select an option to use when recommending goals to employees. Available options include: use qualifiers to select employees; select specific employees; or select all employees.
    • If using qualifiers to select employees, select Add. Select a qualifier and a corresponding qualifier value. Select additional qualifiers and values, if needed.
    • If selecting specific employees, select Select Employees. From the Find Employees page, select the employees to whom the goal is to be recommended. To remove a selected employee, check the box next to the applicable employee. Select Remove Assignments or select the Remove icon.
      Note
      • Selecting the option for All Employees, makes the goal available to all the employees in your company. To make the goal available for your direct reports, select the option to Select Specific Employees.
      • Recommended goals appear on the Recommended Goals page (Menu > Myself > Career & Education > Goals > Things I Can Do > View Recommended Goals).
  12. Select Save. The Recommended Goals page appears with the new information.

View Additional Goal Recommendations

Managers can view additional goal recommendations in the Additional Goal Recommendations page. The Additional Goal Recommendations page displays all recommended goals established for your company.

Search for recommended goals by title, description, or creator.

  1. From the Recommended Goals page, Things I Can Do section, select the View Additional Goal Recommendations link. The View Additional Goal Recommendations page appears with a list of recommended goals.

  2. Use the Find By fields to search for a specific goal.

View a Recommended Goal

View recommended goals in the Recommended Goals page. All goals that are recommended for the selected employee are included in this page.

Search for recommended goals by title, description, category, type, creator, or status.

  1. From the Goals page, Things I Can Do section, select the View Recommended Goals link. The Recommended Goals page appears with a list of recommended goals.

  2. Use the Find By fields to search for a specific goal.
  3. Select the goal Title link. The View Recommended Goal page appears with specific details about the goal.

Copy a Recommended Goal

Copy a recommended goal from the View Recommended Goals page to adopt the goal in your own goal plan

  1. From the Recommended Goals page, Things I Can Do section, select View Recommended Goals. The Recommended Goals page appears with a list of recommended goals.
  2. Use the Find By fields to search for a specific goal.
  3. Select the recommended goal Title link. The View Recommended Goals page appears with details of the recommended goal selected.
  4. Select Copy. The Add/Change Goals page appears.
  5. Modify the goal, as needed. Select Save.
