Maintain Goal, Competency, Employee, and Manager Notes
Notes for Performance Reviews
The Goal Notes, Competency Notes, Employee Notes, and Manager Notes features enable you to comment on an employee's performance during and between performance reviews. You can add, edit, or delete these notes anytime.
- Use the Goal Notes feature to add comments to an employee's goals. When the Goal Progress feature is enabled by your administrator, you can track goal progress by percentage complete for each goal.
- Use the Competency Notes feature to add comments to a competency.
- Use the Employee Notes feature to add notes that are visible to you. You can also mark employee notes as visible to others in the performance review.
- Use the Manager Notes feature to add notes that are visible to you. These notes are never visible to others in the performance review.
Goal Notes
The Goal Notes feature allows you to add notes and track progress (if enabled) on active goals for your employees. Goal notes are extremely helpful during a performance review process because they provide important insight into an employee's goal contributions throughout the review period.
Add Goal Notes
- From My Direct Reports, select Goals.
- Select Notes at the goal for a direct report.
- Enter the goal note in the text box.
- At the Goal Progress field, enter a completion percentage for the goal.
- Select the access options for this
note:
- Notes visible to Anyone are available to anyone with access to the employee record. Then you must select an option to include or exclude the employee's access.
- Notes visible to Only Me are
available only to you. Note
The Visible from Review checkbox is selected by default but can be deselected if the note should not appear in a review.
- Select Post.
Edit Goal Notes
- From My Direct Reports, select Goals.
- Select Notes at the goal for a direct report.
- Select Edit at the note you want to change.
- Make any changes to the note text or visibility:
- Notes visible to Anyone are available to anyone with access to the employee record. Then you must select an option to include or exclude the employee's access.
- Notes visible to Only Me are
available only to you. Note The Visible from Review checkbox is selected by default but can be deselected if the note should not appear in a review.
- Select Save.
Delete Goal Notes
- From My Direct Reports, select Goals.
- Select Notes at the goal for a direct report.
- Select Delete at the note you want removed.
- In the dialog box, select OK.
Competency Notes
The Competency Notes feature allows you to add notes and evidence that demonstrate an employee's proficiency for active competencies. You must assign competencies to your employees before you can add a competency note.
Add Competency Notes
- From My Direct Reports, select Competencies.
- Select Notes at the competency for a direct report.
- Enter your note in the text box and select the appropriate visibility:
- Notes visible to Anyone are available to anyone with access to the employee record. Then you must select an option to include or exclude the employee's access.
- Notes visible to Only Me are
available only to you. Note The Visible from Review checkbox is selected by default but can be deselected if the note should not appear in a review.
- Select Post.
Edit Competency Notes
- From My Direct Reports, select Competencies.
- Select Notes at the competency for a direct report.
- Select Edit at the note you want to change.

Employee Notes
The Employee Notes feature enables you to add employee comments and ongoing feedback at any time. Employee notes can be made available in an employee's review and are extremely helpful during the performance review process. These notes provide important insight into an employee's contributions during the review period.

- From My Direct Reports, select the Employee Notes icon for a direct report.
- Enter your note in the text box and
select the appropriate visibility:
- Notes visible to Anyone are available to anyone with access to the employee record. Then you must select an option to include or exclude the employee's access.
- Notes visible to Only Me are

- Select Post.

The Manager Notes feature enables you to comment on an employee at anytime. These are only for you—they are never available to the employee or in a performance review.
