Review Schedule Event Rules for Managers
Schedule Event Rules
Schedule Event Rules are a component of Global Scheduling Rules, which organizations use to monitor employee scheduled hours over extended periods of time.
Schedule events allow organizations to enforce scheduled shift commitments and rest time for employees over longer periods of time (fixed or rolling), up to a year.
How Schedule Event Rules Work in the Schedule
When the schedule does not honor these targets, it displays rule violations that alert managers to amend the schedule. Schedule Event rules define restrictions or constraints that govern the amount of work time or the number of recurrences of a specific event, such as night shifts or weekend shifts, that can be in a schedule over a set period.
Schedule Event Rules: Use Cases and Examples
The following table provides examples of common use cases of Schedule Event rules in different industries:
Industry/Vertical | Use Case Example |
---|---|
Healthcare | Nurses must work any three weekend shifts during any six-week rolling period. |
Manufacturing | Maximum eight consecutive shifts can be scheduled, but if one in the series is a night shift, the maximum is limited to seven shifts. |
Retail | Store Assistants cannot work more than 18 Sundays per year. |
Services and Distribution | Drivers can be scheduled maximum 8 hours during night shifts. |
Review Schedule Event Rules in the Schedule
Managers can review rule violations in the schedule to ensure that the schedule complies with labor laws around schedule fairness and fatigue management.
