Run the Rule Analysis Report
Rule Analysis Report
The Rule Analysis report provides details about how the system interprets pay rules, work rules, and other factors in its calculations. The report is typically used to explain why an employee is paid a certain way or to determine if there is a configuration problem.
The Rule Analysis report divides the reported time into spans. Spans include information about distinct periods during which system calculations were made. The system creates spans when processing the various rules and data.
Spans are not visible on the timecard.
Run the Rule Analysis Report
The Rule Analysis report provides total calculations interpreted by the system in the timecard.
- From the Employee Timecards page, select an employee.
- Select a timeframe.
- Select Analyze from the Menu Bar and then select Analyze Rules.
Rule Analysis Report - Days
The top of the Rule Analysis report enumerates each day as part of the total days in the selected timeframe.
For example, if the timecard includes data for Monday through Friday, the top of the panel displays 1 of 5 for Monday, 2 of 5 for Tuesday, and so on. Select the left and right arrows to move from one day to another.
Rule Analysis Report - Summary
The Rule Analysis report provides a summary for each day.
- Reason: For example, absence, paycode edit or regular shift.
- Time: Timeframe for the day such as 7:00AM to 4:00PM.
- Hours: Total hours for the day, for example 7:30.
The status displays: In Progress, Projected, and From Schedule.
Rule Analysis Report - Spans
Spans include information about the periods during which system calculations were made.
The system creates spans when processing the various rules and data. Spans are not visible in the timecard. The report identifies any span that involves a change in pay, work rule, paycode, pay rule, and so on.
For example, an employee might have only an In-punch and an Out-punch on a given day, but the system could identify multiple spans such as breaks, transfers, or overtime, based on processing the employee’s pay rule.
