The Day Split rule assigns punches to specific timesheet days based on the shift or schedule assigned to the employee on that day.
Use of one of these settings overrules the behavior that would have occurred when no shift exists.
When using the Assign to Closest Shift Time option, if a check in punch is within a shift or within “x” hours of the shift (start or end), the normal Day Split rule behavior is overridden. (Refer to Day Split Rule.) The punch is assigned to the same day as that shift. “X” is defined in the When Punch Falls Outside of a Shift setting.

When using the Assign to Unpaired Check In Punch or use Shift Start/End option, normal behavior applies except when the check in punch is within "x” hours of a shift start AND the check in punch is before the day start time. If the check in punch is after the day start time, the shift on the following day is used. “X” is defined in the When Punch Falls Outside of a Shift setting.
